New places & worlds from my animated sci-fi series Tales from the Fray

The interior of the "Nexus Machine" - a machine that sits between strands of "The Fray", the causal connections that span the Universe. It is composed of ever-changing impossible geometry.

The underground lab that controls the planet Beisa 22's orbital position relative to its three suns.

The crimson crystals, rivers & clouds of Beisa 22. At their triple point, Beisa 22 maintains the perfect temperature for this mysterious red substance to exist in all three phases simultaneously. The rivers condense from the skies & crystals melt into scarlet springs.

An ancient altar on the surface of Beisa 22, with three statues holding orbs that correspond to the colours of the suns. Hovering above the skyline is an impossibly intricate stargate, large enough to transport the entire planet.

The plains of Ember, which roll upwards with the curvature of its artificial crescent. The surface is covered with vibrant green grasses & rolling hills despite being entirely exposed to space. It feels akin to a garden, but with a crop of strange undulating orbs composed of what looks like filaments of molten red glass.

The interior of an ancient vessel that crash-landed onto the surface of Beisa 22. A strange black liquid continues to spill out of mounted tube, transforming into dark veins that sprawl across the inside of the ship.

Arii approaches the doors of the "Nexus Machine".

The plaza on Sontu overlooking the landscape's deep canyons & emerald green skies. Brass coloured acoustic mirrors sit among the canyons & clouds. The mirrors reflect a singular chord that fills the plaza so that the ground seems to vibrate beneath one's feet.

The centre of the plaza on Sontu surrounded by crowds of tourists. A temple made of what looks like highly polished brass stands at one end of the plaza, adorned with acoustic mirrors. In the centre is a fountain with a iridescent liquid that dances to the faint chord that reverberates off the surrounding mirrors.

The planet Scorosha, orbited by ships visiting its moon Ember.

The planet Sontu situated in the centre of a nebula & surrounded by acoustic mirrors. Two metallic arms extend from the planet's centre, revolving rhythmically. The arms drive the surrounding nebula into a series of concentric rings, each orbiting Sontu at a different speed.

"The Chamber of Shifting Song" within the temple structure on Sontu. Its walls are lined with acoustic mirrors & pipes, all made of a reflective brass. On the floor are rows of keys that extend to the back of the chamber & to a large metallic wheel covered in glowing symbols. Chords are played when the keys on the floor are pressed, making this room a sort of musical instrument.

The interior of "The Waking Library", a library made of mycelium that sits within a belt of asteroids known as the Mobius Cluster. Spirals of floating rocks extend towards the centre of the library, where tendrils of mycelium meet at a large central node. The walls of this cavenous place are almost porous, covered in endless holes pieced by the multitudes of tendrils that comprise the library.

The centre of the "Waking Library", within the central node of mycellium. A sole robot mans an elegant control desk wrapped in tendils of mycellium.

The "Mobius Cluster", a rogue belt of asteroids & home to the "Waking Library". The asteroids are connected by webs of fine mycellium & patches of deep red lichen.

The interior of an Emberon control vessel docked at Ember. The inside of the ship resembles a forest of smooth siilver spires that gleam in the ambient light. Each spire hosts a number of platforms above which float clusters of hollow rocks with fine strings spanning their apertures.
